Meet the Toyota C-HR

A relative newcomer to the world of subcompact, crossover SUVs, Toyota’s popular C-HR first appeared in 2016. Since then, it has become an increasingly popular option for those who want performance, practicality, good looks and fuel efficiency.

It takes its name from its design elements, with the C-HR originating from Compact High Rider, as well as Coupe High Rider and Cross Hatch Runabout. With production in multiple areas of the world, the North American C-HRs are the only vehicles offering the larger 2.0 liter engines and later model years have featured only the LE, XLE Premium and Limited models.

Unique Good Looks

One thing that has always been noted of the C-HR, regardless of model year or trim, is that it is a distinctively stylish vehicle that offers a lot of unique lines and angles along with a low-slung silhouette utterly unique to SUVs.

And though headlights are not often considered a style statement, the innovative use of cluster LED DRL with halogen headlights in the C-HRs gives them an edgy and high performance appearance. Equipped with AHB, or automatic high beam systems, they make nighttime driving safer for you and oncoming traffic.

Safety Sense

The C-HRs are also loaded with all of Toyota’s popular safety features. Standard to them is the Safety Sense P or TSS-P features. This includes:

·         Pre-Collision System – With pedestrian detection, this system scans the road and identifies impediments in the travel lane, alerting you and even braking to prevent collisions.

·         Full Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control – An adaptive form of cruise control that monitors road conditions and your driving patterns along with radar and smart cameras to keep things safe at all times, speeds and conditions.

·         Lane Departure Alert – We all lose track of ourselves from time to time, and this system alerts you of lane drift and may even use a steering assist function to guide you back into your lane.

The C-HRs also offer Blind Spot monitoring and alerting that prevent you from blindly entering travel lanes; rear cross traffic alerts for those vehicles you cannot see coming up behind you as you switch lanes; backup cameras; at least ten standard airbag positions; and the trademark Star Safety System; to further enhance safety and driving.

C-HR Tech: Packed With Innovative Features

And like many of the later model Toyotas, the C-HRs come packed with an array of technologies that make driving easier, more enjoyable and even a bit entertaining. From the standard 8” display screens and the connectivity with mobile devices, to the multi-informational display on the dash, folding mirrors and electronic parking brake, you’ll find yourself looking forward to a drive or commute of any length or complexity.

So Many Reasons to Consider the Toyota C-HR

There are so many reasons to consider the Toyota C-HR as your next vehicle. If you are eager to test drive one for yourself, you’re bound to be delighted by its good looks. The C-HR offers even more than a terrific appearance: its technology and safety features make this vehicle a definite ‘must-see’ for car shoppers. If you’re looking for a distinctive vehicle that exceeds your expectations in every way, then put the CH-R on your list of top cars worth a look.
